How a Reverse Osmosis System Works

An RO system forces water through a semi-permeable membrane under pressure. That membrane has pores small enough to block ions, dissolved minerals, and microscopic particles that pass right through standard filters. What reaches your faucet is water stripped of most of what you don’t want in it.

The process unfolds in stages. Pre-filters handle sediment and chlorine before water ever contacts the membrane, protecting it from premature wear. After the membrane, post-filters polish the water before it reaches the tap. A storage tank holds purified water in reserve so supply stays steady even during higher-use periods.

Installation connects to the cold water supply line under the kitchen sink. A dedicated faucet is drilled into the sink deck, and a drain saddle routes the concentrate line. Most installations are completed in a single visit. Before we hand the system over, we run a final flush to clear initial carbon fines and confirm the membrane is performing correctly.

Reverse Osmosis vs. Carbon Filtration
